I think that it would take the purpose of these entries away. They are ment to be displayed among more traditional entries.

With that said, I like this idea a lot.

Honestly, I don't think we really need it. There's not a whole lot of people making "jokeshots" whatever this is supposed to be and those that do are an only marginal percentage of the submitters to SotW. I don't see how they are runing anything. In fact, in most cases I don't see how there screenshots even are "jokes", as much that has been considered "jokeshots" qualified as valid artistic statements.
I think that it would take the purpose of these entries away. They are ment to be displayed among more traditional entries.
I think this would be pointless. People wouldn't be inspired to make good "joke shots" and they would just lose all meaning they have if they were lumped into a different contest.
Yes, but how does that make you FEEL? There's a psychological reason behind everything~
I believe the only reason you guys say they are "meant to be displayed among more traditional entries" is because they are breaking what's the accepted mold. This, in essence, is a hit and miss. It's not like this is politics, and what's considered a "joke" entry by majority rule is going to change the world somehow. No, in fact if you haven't noticed, they cause more problems than they are really worth if you've been paying attention. So, that said, holding a separate contest for them would not only let people have their "artistic" shots as Yoshimi allegedly claims they are, but they can also post them too, in a contest designed specifically for them.
I honestly don't see a problem with this idea, other than the potential crybabies that'd cut up, rip and rave over their entry for SotW getting carried over to this contest due to majority rule of it being a "joke" shot. Regardless of how long you spend on the screenshot, if it looks off the wall of and something you would normally never do, even in a quest, what the heck else do you expect people to see in their eyes? The infamous example of the screenfull of Links comes into play again. Unless the quest revolves around a clone war, which I highly doubt, and that was a cutscene of Links marching onward, you'd never really see a screen like that within a full, playable quest unless someone did it just for "the lulz" or to troll the players into thinking something glitched. And then there's the rainbow, psychedelic screens. There's a difference between using Green, Blue, Purple, etc. trees in a Prism Forest or whatever, and just making a screen that looks like Link is doing shrooms. Again, unless the maker is doing them themselves, I highly doubt you'd see that within a full, playable quest
I bet I'll see some counters now, like "But you never know..." or some trolls like "I'll do that right now." Watch them prove my point, and I'll just laugh it off, have my cake, and eat it too

If you do this, I think it would be best to make it a one-time event, or at least something occurring very rarely.

If "you won't see this in a full, playable quest" is a valid reason to dismiss a shot as a joke, then we might as well nix Screen Rebirth/Screenshot Challenge. Most of the shots in Screen Rebirth and especially Screenshot Challenge are essentially novelty screens designed specifically for those contests, anyway. (Actually, in all honesty, I think we should remove Screen Rebirth/Screenshot Challenge, at least as "official" events. But that's something for another topic.)

Well, nevermind... I didn't mean this to be as the joke shots in the past were to be, but as something that was meant to be different. What I mean is, just blatantly obvious screenshots that could be put up to give a people a good laugh. Didn't think at all, that this thread would turn into something criticizing my idea, and run the thought into the ground. I dunno.... I have some other ideas I guess for SotW. -_- Perhaps they'd have better reception.
Edit: I guess I'm just a little frustrated right now. Would rather have had some valid points thrown at me, more then the whole "This is stupid" feel that I am getting from most responses. Something like what Rambly mentioned, makes sense, with there quite possibly being only a couple shots entered, which would make the idea rather pointless.

I think too many people would treat the screen creation process as a joke rather than aim for an entertaining final product, and we would be left with a collection of sub-par screenshots that were made in about 5 minutes each. And if that's what people's submissions are like, the voters won't really know what they're supposed to look for to find the "best" joke shot. The one that looks good, or the biggest joke?
