7. Signature Limits
Signature limits are generally more strict than they are for posts, due to them always appearing below your post, unless you disable it. These limits also reference screen resolutions of at least 1024x768. Note the following:
- The total size of your signature should not take up more than half a page on the above mentioned screen resolution. Save excess information for your profile or a link to an outside web page.
- Images should not exceed 400 pixels in either direction, and total file size of all images should not exceed 200 kb. But in general, keep images small and few, as they add to the signature size very quickly. Also try to avoid embedding most animated images, as they easily add a lot to the file size.
- Do not embed Youtube videos in your signature. They will be removed upon notice.
- Signatures considered too large will lead to a PM asking you to cut it down. Failure to abide to such a PM within 24 hours will cause you to have your signature deleted, with the content PMed back to you. Inappropriate content in a signature or large signatures of less active members may have content removed without any PM forewarning to remove it yourself.
There was recently a topic focusing upon this aspect but was closed when its purpose was served and it degenerated into a thread where people were called out specifically. That will not be the case here; this thread is a simple notice asking everyone to review these signature revisions and check to be sure their own signatures comply with them. We, the staff, are not going to stop personally asking people to reduce their signatures, but this seemed like a simpler way than individually PMing several members. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please make sure your signatures are within regulation.
