Ballad of a Bloodline Deluxe
Original Author: CastChaos
DX version Author: Twilight_Knight

ZC version: 2.5 betas.
Release date: 2011

Deluxe Basics:
Yes, yes! I got permission from CastChaos to make the Deluxe version of BB! You probably all know the quest and it's story, but for those who don't, visit the main thread for BB here. BBDX will have many new stuff and many fixed/improved stuff.

Deluxe additions:
My main goal is to add a lot. I, myself, am fascinated of BB, it's so far my favorite quest, so I don't want to change much about the original quest. I know there are much rants about BB's design, but it's better to ignore those and view a quest as an individual player. These things will be added:
-3 (relatively small) dungeons.
-4 (also relatively small) overworlds.
-Myra as a playable character.
That's all I planned for now.

Deluxe improvements:
I state here exactly what I will improve about the old BB:
-Revamp EVERY string to 2.5 capabilities (colors in text and backgrounds).
-New palettes on several places.
-Improved design on many locations.
-Few improved graphics.
-Fixes of some commonly regarded misuses of tiles.
-More hints on major directions.
-More people to talk with.
-Very few secret combos adjusted.
-Improvements on bosses.

Ballad of a Bloodline Original:
Look in the BBthread for everything else.

Deluxe credits:
Ornlu - Tiles: Small and big enhanced LttP trees.
Linkus - Tiles: Suspended Bridges.
Dawnlight - Tiles: Title Screen text.

Deluxe maps:
Map of the new Hyrule field:
Click (FINAL VERSION)
Map of the old:
unavailable

Deluxe progress:
Improving Strings: 50%
Adding New Areas: 25%
Adding 2.5 Elements: 10%

...Dang that was fast. The game just comes out and there's already a revised version in progress. Anyway, looks cool, can't wait to see what 2.5 features you use!

Thanks, hinsburg.
Of course this version needs to be in the making as soon as possible. People are playing the quest now, so now I can get most information from them. And if it was started later, the Deluxe version would come out very late.

Keep voting people!

Ok one thing that really urked me about ballad of a bloodline was the overworld design the dungeons were awesome but the overworld annoyed me alot. The lack of hints and walking pointlessly to figure out where to go next was a huge turn-off for me. Change that.

I will make some more hints, but I will definitely not change to much. I like BB how it is, it's very challenging.

I still remember when Twilight_Knight spoke to me through MSN, in a celebrational way and asked for the "movie rights" of BB. I promptly said "Yes, you can make a BBDX" then went back to my business... I'm quite happy about it, because...
-Seeing a DX version of my quest is just exciting.
-Seeing that Twilight_Knight makes it is even more exciting.
-I would have wanted a BBDX anyway, but if I started to make it, I would have never got to finish it, due to me liking to make new quests better than improving what I already made.
-This way people can tell what didn't they like and then they can close the baby making upwards, because their wish gets fulfilled. This also means that I must be happy for all nice and all bad comments on BB, since bad comments on BB will be the fertile soil for BBDX.

Future seems bright. We are Original.

I'm glad to see someone starting a new quest using an old, though modified, tileset and not the New DoR or something in that direction... I AM going to play through all of BB, but if you manage to make the screens in this version actually good and playable, without them being annoying for popping out a bush one tile near the screen and other annoyances like that, I'll probably have an even better time playing this one.

@ drzchulo973: Thanks. Which makes me think, many people can't run 2.10 nowadays, this can be a solid solution.

@ CastChaos: I actually would like enhancing quests better. It is less work. icon_razz.gif

@ Lord Ike: You guessed right, Myra will be playable.

@ Migokalle: It isn't a remake, it is an enhancement. I will only improve and add, starting over would be a crazy idea, even impossible in my case.

Nice to see some attention for this.

Sounds pretty interesting. Playing as Myra should be pretty neat. Will Knil be able to use some items that Myra can't and will there be items Myra can use, but not Knil?

Definately sounds pretty interesting for sure. Looking forward to it. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks, blaman. Yes, Myra is able to use other items. You should know that she is only playable in the new dungeons I add.

Replaying BB makes me realize what should be fixed and what not.

YAY! BB 2.5!

Sorry, I love 2.5 features, and I never expected to see BB go 2.5. Good luck TK.

Wait, so we'll be able to play it without the accompanying ear rape that 2.10 brings? SWEET!

(No offense, CastChaos. I've had enough of the midi bug to last a lifetime, and from looking at the threads, BB isn't playable in the fixed versions.)

When the music becomes buggy, minimize then restore the ZC window. Whoosh, bug is gone. Now drink your milk and go back to playing.
