As a furry that constantly likes to let people know how furry he is online, I have little choice but to make my avatar my fursona. Always.

Like now, for example. Since I change so much, it's also a great way to keep people up to date. At the moment, I'm a fatass; a foxcoon with rubbery red skin. Sooo sexy. :3 *shot*

I like either serious or really really funny avatars. Anything in between is crap IMO.

My avatars are usually always something reptillian. Most of the time, they're something I've drawn. However, my past avatar (the bangaa bomber from Final Fantasy Tactics A2), and my current one (my sangheili character in Halo 3) are both from video games.

What can I say? I like reptiles.

I prefer three kinds:

1. Funny avatars (often excerpts from webcomics that I found quite appropriate),
2. Cute/cool anime avatars,
3. Male characters that representing my style or a style I like. (These are often also anime or game-related.)

My current one obviously falls into the second category. When I first started coming to PZC, I kept the same silly avatar for quite awhile (NES Link holding a wedge of cheese), just to try to get myself into a cheerful mindset. I've partially fallen out of that, but I try to at least be nice.

More often than not, it's just whatever's caught my interest at the moment. I never have a set theme, nor do I really think about what I use as my avatar. Currently, I'm using a random image of Claus (hailing from Mother 3). There's no rhyme or reason to how I select avatars. And there probably never will be.

Portraits. Or sometimes scenes, as long as it focuses on one person. Don't ask me why, but it just seems more appropriate to use those as avatars than text or some other thing like that

I don't really care too much. I almost never change my avatar so I jsut have is something neat, like swords or link or something. Pixel art is cool too.

My current one is a thing I drew to represent myself a few years ago (a turtle with sad eyes hiding in the shell, but also loosely based on a Subrosian from Oracle of Seasons, and a Koopa shell), but, before that I had a long history of doing basically what TK8305 does now- using a specific favored anime/manga character. In my case, it was manga versions of Otohime Mutsumi from Love Hina (TK's is Mahoro Andou from Mahoromatic, who's pretty cool too).

...wrote a reply, decided to check through the posts for anything interesting and to make sure I wasn't being redundant if TK'd already explained that, spent a good while looking for a "TS" hidden somewhere in TheSatellite's LTTP golden land avatar, and then realized it's a 10 year old thread that was only recently revived XD But what the heck, I'll hit post anyways.

Edea. But more generally, I just use random stuff. I had a protomen album cover for years, and then I switched it to Edea's artwork from Bravely Second when I was all hype mode for it, and haven't changed it except once, to another Edea costume.

I think avatar/ name changes are confusing, so it probably won't change even though I never beat Bravely Second, and kind don't care about it anymore. But she cute tho.
