I'm playing this quest on 2.50 now and I simply can't relate to the things I written in this thread years ago... At that time, I couldn't find L4. Now, I know where L2 3 and 4 are, but can't find L1!

 

So, where is L1 found?

I recall there were warp errors in the beginning of the quest when playing in 1.92 and 2.10. But this is much more severe than I remembered: entering the elevated cave puts me into an empty screen where I can explore around a map. When I'm doing it the smart way, I can get many high level items early, since walking 2 screens to the east and two screens to the north puts me into a warp that takes me to a village with high level shops and the southeast shop takes me to the main overworld.

Making use of all this, I know know where levels 2-4 are and am having a lot of high level items. But where I thought I would find L1, there was just the candle...

And this all is very strange, because reading back in the thread, I got a better arrow in L2 for first, but now I got the best one from the bug-entered village already! 0_O

 

So, where's L1 and how should it be found without glitches?

OR now with 2.50, we can just throw out all pre-2.10 quests? That would be sad! I was just gonna replay a bunch of 'em!

Eckland is broken in 2.50, you'll need to use a previous version. Though, perhaps 2.50.1 RC2 works?

Got to level 8 and right off the bat, missing a key. Any hints on location?
