Surprised there wasn't a thread for this yet.  It looks pretty good :).  It's not exactly HD, but it is still a  higher resolution than before~

I've got this preordered already. It looks pretty awesome. I've tried playing through the game, but haven't gotten to the end once. With this, I should be able to do it in the remake.

Honestly would have preferred a new game instead. Mainly because i'm starting to get really tired of remakes, regardless if it's a remake of a game i like or not.

I loved the original, still looks great IMO. Don't think the graphics needed an overhaul, but would certainly play a game that looked like this with the original's mechanics

Meh. I don't really like the art style Dream Team and on used. The original looked much nicer.

Someone made this.

Something was definitely lost in translation.  I think it was the expressionism...

This is a fine example of a pointless remake. The original still looks great even today and the remake does nothing to improve upon it.

And now just realized that this remake takes the spot of what was supposed to be a new Mario and Luigi game. Means even more waiting because they decided to remake the first game instead.

Considering this gives me a chance to finally pick up this game, I'm all for this.

The trees in the new game outside mario's house are severely lacking in detail. A lot of the places in the new game have superior looking ground & wall textures but the 3D models in the new game are just so significantly inferior to the 2D sprites in the original game that it isn't funny.

The switch to 3D models was very clearly a cost cutting measure.

Are they really 3D models?  They don't look like it to me....at most, they look like prerendered sprites...  But even so, a level of expressionism was lost in translation.  For example, compare the Toads' reaction to the Princess in both.  Much more expressive in the GBA.  Also the Princess' dress was blowing in the wind on the GBA, but it's static on the 3DS.   Hmm....it's the little things, guys.  This doesn't mean it's BAD, but, I don't see why they couldn't recreate these with the new graphics.

I'm reasonably confident they did switch to 3D models, it'd make it a lot easier to create convincing 3D effects with the 3DS's 3D screen. Regardless, those trees are butt ugly.
