Not voting since I'm in this one. So here's my ten cents worth.

Cukeman- My favorite part of this shot is the giant seashells. Otherwise, the palette is actually a bit bland for my taste. And there's not a great deal going on either.

Joelmacool- That screen certainly has quite a bit of complexity. The edges where the water meets the mountains could use a bit of refinement. I like the twisted tree at the top left. What tileset is that, anyways?

May the best shot win!

It's the EZGBZ tileset.

ywkls - Probably one of the best screens you've actually ever made. I really like the use of this tileset and the screen you made looks really well done. The subscreen needs a bit of work to make it look a bit cleaner (and Kirby definitely needs to be fixed up on the top-left). I also found a colour error on the yellow pillar, the top-left area is coloured incorrectly. Other than that, nice work here!

Cukeman - I like the openness of this screen, even if it may be a bit empty, but I do like how it looks. The hammer pegs on the ocean at the bottom look really out of place and this screen could really use a better palette rather than using CSets 6-11. The OoS Summer or Spring palettes could work nicely for a screen like this.

Joelmacool - Really nice work on this screen. Lots of things happening here which is nice to see and I like how everything looks. The water however looks odd when coming to a corner and could probably look much better by completely removing the shoreline below the mountains.

It was quite close between Joel and ywkls this week, but I voted for Joel.

I didn't vote because I am in this competition.

ywkls - I see a tile error! (http://prntscr.com/bipgna). The screen looks nice overall, definitely one of your best.

Cukeman - Looks good! Keep up the good work :D

Joelmacool - Get out mate.

Cukeman - while I normally like your Screens a lot, this time I like nothing about it...

JMC - good screen design and interesting colors - at first. I think I couldn't stand a whole area like that.

Ywkls - while I normally don't like your screens, this time I like it a lot

ywkls: I assume you're using the NES palette, which would explain why Kirby looks desaturated. Despite being a WIP (and the yellow corner) it's looking good, I feel like the water needs a highlight though, it's looking dark.

Cukeman: This is a mood shot. I like the mystery of it. What happened here? The open vacant spaces create a certain aesthetic and vibe. You can go north along the decaying pavement to find some ruins, or head east or west and travel along the cliffs on the shoreline. But maybe that's just me.

Re: Eddy: Oh, those are hammer pegs? I just assumed everything in this set was from the GB games, they looked kinda like pier supports, and I thought I remembered piers like this in the Oracles. *shrug*

Joelmacool: I think it was Pabru(?) who did these dream palette GB shots back in the day? This is a bit better than the last one, still a bit much pink though. Also, it feels a bit crowded and hard to nail down a focal point. Maybe remove one of the mountain tiers to make it feel a bit more walkable.

Sheik made the palette in Joel's shot, Cukeman. It's called Dragonblue (or one of his other palettes; he made a lot).

I voted Joelmacool. All shots were good though.

They are yeah. There are some things which aren't from the GB games in the tilesets. A good example is the warp tiles, which use tiles from ALTTP and Minish Cap. But yeah, the only pier supports I remembered are these from Ages: 42ff3ec67bf34b149a239fba314c517b.png

All the screens this week were pretty impressive, but I ultimately voted for Joelmacool's screen. I really like the design of the screen and the abundance of details with which it was made. :)

The biggest issue i have is the out of place hammer pegs as brought up. This is also bland compared to the others. I mean if you're gonna put hammer pegs, place them where they have more of an effect. I do think the big shell is a good thing and it does still look inviting. I mean it's a good screenshot, but lose the pegs or put them elsewhere in the screen.

I admire your craftsmanship. This is beautiful. While this didn't get my vote, I do love the effort. It does seem like a lot is going on here but I like that about screenshots, that is a check in my book. The reason I didn't vote for this mainly is there was just one who just a little better. Hopefully I'm able to get that heart piece without too much trouble, maybe that's where the bombable door leads to, the cave to that heart piece.

Ywkls

OK this is good. I must play right now. OMG. Incorporating Kirby into a Zelda quest, wow this is definitely hard to do and it looks amazing here. I want to play. What quest name is it or is it untitled?

I originally voted for ywkls because the Kirby setting was nice to see, and this screen is a pretty well designed screen. But after some reflection, I just can't ignore a certain tile or palette error in one of those mountains. This is screenshot of the week. Try to take better care into noticing these things. Errors like this feel too lazy and thoughtless to be a sotw winner.

My vote now goes for joel who once again shows mastery in his skill and talent, however in a tileset that I feel now starting to become aged.

Thanks for the support. I haven't officially started a quest project as I'm still seeking feedback on the areas, enemies and items to include. Naturally, this is going to be heavily scripted, though exactly how close to any existing Kirby title it will be is yet to be seen.

Right now, I'd settle for accomplishing all of the goals I set out to complete when I posted the topic announcing this idea. That can be found here.

http://www.purezc.ne...topic=70371&hl=

Most of the work I did on that screen was the subscreen, moving some stuff around; adding doors; those stairs, the keyblock and the item. And Kirby, of course. When complete, Kirby should have a different look for every ability though I don't know if I'll be able to switch the subscreen to match.

Stay tuned for further news!
