Well, this came a bit later in the week than I intended, but it's about time I make this announcement.
I'm retiring from Screenshot of the Week. It's been a fun ride, great even, but it's been a long one. April 15th, 2013, was when I first came aboard the contest, closing 405, opening 406, and from there serving as backup for then contest-runner Rydia (now Neptune). December 23, 2013, was when I took over full time starting with 435. Guess you could say it was an early Christmas present. From there I took care of the contest, carrying on from Neptune's example and making some small adjustments, mainly to Screenshot of the Month's format; once, it was simply posted every four weeks, but now it's the first Sunday of every month, in order to ensure Screenshot of the Year always had an even twelve competitors instead of a possible thirteen.
And so it went from there, including special events such as Screenshot of the Year 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, as well as Screenshot of the Week 500 and 600. I've been on this contest for nearly four years... but recently I've been feeling like it was time for me to move on. I'm sure some of you can attest, I've had times where I've nearly forgotten about the contest, and, well, that's no good at all! Fortunately, nicklegends had my back some of those times, and when I was actually unavailable to host the contest. He's been a great help as well, whether managing stats or helping out with the bigger contests, and I can't think him enough for that help.
Fortunately, a worthy successor is available to take up the mantle, and no, it's not nicklegends; he would be great for it, but I couldn't ask it of him when he already hosts Map of the Month. It's actually Neptune! I talked it over with her and she was more than eager to return to the role, as she was unable to continue it regularly in the past, but has been back with us for a while and now and more than capable of handling it once more. So a big welcome back and an even bigger thank you for accepting, Neptune, and may your days back in the role be as great as they were in the past!
(by the way, two more submissions needed for Sunday)
