Is there a MIDI version of Castor Wilds laying around anywhere? I checked VGMusic and did a very quick and basic search for one but couldn't find anything. I doubt anyone is willing to compose it but if it happens that would be fantastic. The song is around 40 seconds long so I doubt it'd too difficult to compose (inb4 it is).

Alternatively, if you can point me to a very similar sounding MIDI, that would work too.

Thanks for reading and your consideration. :)

I managed to rip the original for you, if that'll help.

Wow, I think Castor Wilds is the ONLY track in the game that hasn't been turned into a MIDI.  I've looked everywhere I can and the only Minish Cap MIDs are the other tracks we've heard before.  If I could pull off something like that, I'd help you, man.

Cheers if you find one/make it.

Sweet, thanks! It's a little bland though unfortunately... I hope someone can spice it up if it isn't too much trouble.

If you want it done properly then you'll need to find someone that can and is willing to transcribe the song by ear.

I fixed up the dumped midi a bit with better instrumentation and mixing: Download. But the entire thing is obviously missing information. This might "work" for your needs but, let's be honest, it's not particularly good.

The midi was designed to use the soundfont for all it's sampling.  If you play it using GM it'll play like crap.  That's just the way soundfonts are handled on any sample based midi platform (SNES/GBA/N64/GCN/etc.)  In this way, it's easier to think of MIDI's as digital sheet music, rather than a song in and of itself.

All I did was take the rom image of Minish Cap, locate the midi data, and rip the midi and soundfont together.  The only way to get it to sound like the original is to use music program with MIDI soundfont support.  You can also clean up the midi fairly easily in a DAW, though I didn't have the time to do that.  I had hoped that what I gave you was enough.  Either way, I hope it helped, even if it was only a little bit.

Yeah I know how tracker music data works. :P

Given that the data structure is fairly different it has to be converted and frankly, all conversion tools are kinda shit. I mean, for one samples can vary on a game by game basis, and there is seldom any equivalent on GM. It's not as if it couldn't properly be transcribed though, but it would require manual work, plus, at that point it's probably easier for someone competent to do so by ear. The reason I don't is that I'm terrible at that part of music production. :>

Well, thanks everyone for the assistance, but someone went the extra mile and composed an entirely new MIDI for me so I'm going to use that instead. However, I wouldn't mind if anyone wants to compose this song into a MIDI and use this thread to post it, of course. I think it's a really cool song and I'm sure others might have a use for it. And maybe the helpful contributions won't go to waste either. Still appreciate you all for responding and whatnot. :)

And if we don't get any MIDI, aw well. It was worth asking. :P
