-- The Legend of Zelda 1 Style Miniquest #1 --

Welcome to Z1 style miniquest of the month #1!

In this contest, you have one year to construct a Zelda 1 styled miniquest. Here are the guidelines:

It can use a tileset other than the classic set, but the set must be heavily based on the classic tileset. (Such as a BS Zelda tileset)

It must follow the specified theme.

Try not to use heavy, game altering scripts. Small ones are fine.

It must have at least 2 main dungeons and 1 final dungeon.

Be creative! Just because it's based on Z1 doesn't mean you can't add interesting puzzles or traps!

Now that we have the guidelines out of the way, the theme is tropical island.

Remember never to use copyrighted material or other peoples work in your quest.

Except Nintendo's. :P

Look, I know two weeks isn't enough time for everyone, but we usually hold contests over a fairly short span for a reason. People will forget the contest even exists if it goes on too long. It doesn't have to be two weeks, but you need a definite deadline that isn't too far off. Two months at most I'd say.

...I'm pretty sure one could crank out, what? 15 of those in a year? At least?

Yeah, you're being way too lenient. :P

Also the copyright thing is a bit paradoxical, since you're using a Zelda fangame program to make a Z1 styled quest, so making a quest for this contest would automatically void that.

I agree one year for a Z1-styled miniquest, with no game altering scripts, is way too long. How about one month?

If we're talking three dungeons and no big scripts, I'd say two weeks should be more than enough time. Others have pointed the copyright thing so I won't bother. However, I will say this. Look at the last two week contest. How many entries had no game-altering scripts? That'd be a big fat zero. I hate to tell you, but I don't think very many people are interested in making your run-of-the-mill Z1 style quests anymore. I could be wrong, but I'm not seeing an audience for this kind of contest.

If you don't mind changing the rules a bit, you could make it so the goal is to produce a miniquest using only the classic tileset, and with no big scripts, but without sticking to the Z1 formula. I'd be more interested in that.

Okay, I've changed the rules a bit. To clarify, you can use small scripts like signpost or item pickup. Try not to use scripted bosses or other big scripts though.

I've also been told that a year is a bit long so I'm changing back to monthly to make it more challenging.

The deadline will be the 28th of next month. PM me the link to the QST file to submit.

(Sorry if I seem a bit odd with this, I'm new to this whole contest thing.)
