For Hal's Great Cave Offensive (and presumably for other people's projects), I am in need of a script that gives me the ability to create bridges that you can go over and under that span over more than one screen and the screen border below the bridge is walkable/swimmable/etc, including over water combos. I've tried to script this several times but then this problem just keeps chewing me up and spitting me out, so I request some help from the PZC community here.

As shown here, this screenshot here is taken over the span of two screens, showing the boundary between the screens. As you can see here, this bridge crosses the screen boundary; above water. The idea is explained in these next diagrams.

The player is on the bridge and moves between the screens on the bridge, walking. The player should remain on the bridge after the screen transition, still walking.

The player is swimming directly below the bridge, moving between the two screens while under the bridge. The player should remain swimming under the bridge after the screen transition.

 

Can anyone make a script that replicates this effect for me?

I might take a crack at this. I've always wanted to make a height system.

However I don't have much time to spare at the moment with school and work killing me. So don't rely on me to have it finished any time soon.
Edit: I think this might be possible to do without scripts! ZC trickery with temp secrets and resets. Will try to if it works when I get home.

It will work with perm secrets and resets - so far you dont mess up before the reset (eg you die or f6) or you jump over it. (Not sure if jumps are ignoring it). You also could make a copy of the screens and use one version for under bridges and one for above - if I did understand ZoriaRPG correct, you can manipulate a screen map position through a script, so you can let these two version act as if there is no 2nd version.

Will the player be able to go into the water, then later on top of the bridge (or the other way around), without leaving the screen? If not, you can simply place temporary secret flags on the edge of the screen where the player will enter.
