We've recently updated the submission rules to be a lot more comprehensive and coherent. Some rules in the past didn't make sense with some submission types, so we've gone ahead and made different rules for each type of submission. As per usual, scripts are kept separate from the rest of the database and are retaining the same rules that they've always had. Here is the updated rule list for reference:

General submission rules
1. Your content must include a description. Spell and punctuate as well as you can.
2. All content must be compatible with a stable release of Zelda Classic. These versions include 1.90, 1.92b183, 2.10 and 2.50.
3. If your submission has obscene or especially violent content, note it prominently in the description. Do not include such content in any screenshots.
4. If what you're submitting is not your own, get permission from the original creator(s) first.
5. Do not submit minor modifications to any database material as a new submission. If you need to update some content that is already in the database, click the gear icon toward the top-right of its page.
6. If you choose to include screenshots, submit only PNG, GIF, JPG, or BMP files. Do not include them in the submission package itself; rather, use the site prompts designed for that purpose.

Additional rules for quests
1. Submit only completed quests. "Demo" or "beta" quests should be shared in the Quest Projects section of the website instead.
2. Any quests that attempt to remake 1st.qst, 2nd.qst, etc. must revolutionize the player's experience in a meaningful way. Quests with only trivial graphical or gameplay updates will not be admitted.
3. Do not include copyrighted songs in an audio file format (MP3, OGG, etc.) in your quest.

Additional rules for tiles
Tiles must be readily rippable into ZQuest. This entails two main points:
1. Do not submit your tiles in a lossy format such as JPG or any format incompatible with ZQuest.
2. Use no more than 256 colors. If your tiles have more than 16 colors, prove that the tiles are usable in ZQuest by including a screenshot of them having been successfully ripped into the program. If you'd prefer that this screenshot not be made public to other PureZC members, let the staff know.

Additional rules for tilesets
1. Submit tilesets in .QST or .ZGP format.
2. Submit only complete or near-complete tilesets. Any smaller fragments should be submitted to the loose tiles section instead.

Additional rules for music
1. Submit only MIDIs or tracker files (.IT, .XM, .MOD, .SPC, .GYM, .NSF, .GBS or .VGM). Other file formats, such as .MP3 and .OGG, are supported by Zelda Classic but are too large for our database.
2. Don't submit MIDIs or rips of music from commercial video games. The Video Game Music Archive already has tens of thousands of MIDIs available.

If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to ask here, PM myself or any other staff member, or use the staff dropbox.

Have you guys thought about having a ratings system for this?

We've thrown around the idea of including a checkbox to mark mature material, but honestly, the current system seems to work alright.
