Did you find this idea fun? Let`s find out.

P.S. Examples of landmarks: Pyramids, Eiffel Tower, Kremlin, Taj Mahal, Burj Khalifa, Leaning Tower and some other now non-existing, like Twin Towers or ancient wonders of the world.

I wanted to make a dungeon inspired by the Great Wall of China (the Great Wall of Hylia/Hyrule if you will) but I imagine it'd be fairly linear and boring exploration wise. But it'd have indoor and "rooftop" segments and perhaps a battle is going on or something, I dunno. :P

Pyramids have been done quite a lot even in mainline titles.

"Raid Buckingham Palace!"

I can totally see that dungeon idea going down well :P

Doesn't egypt have those mile-long pictures that are only visible from the air? Some sort of outdoor dungeon that had some sort of puzzle dealing with a path like that would be neat. Maybe you climb a tower and then look down and you can see it?

Do you mean Nazca Lines? They are in Chili (South America), not in Egypt. As for idea, what about putting massive, multi-screen spanning puzzle clue in the vast desert. Visit all screens of it and hit Spacebar to find out.

Fort Knox and the pentagon would make for interesting looks and layouts (if you can believe the movies) also the catacombs, the colloseeum and it's underground area, and the cave system people relate to the minotaur myth (can't recall the name).

Thumbs up on this one. Terranigma, and the MD Shining Force games are two popular examples of doing this, and doing it well.

On another note, Nazca is in Peru, not Chile. :P

Babylon, and Sumer are also popular choices to consider, along with more mythical sites (e.g. Atlantis), or no-longer-mythical, such as Troy, and Pompei. Perhaps ancient Alexandria, would also fit into this.

The aqueducts under Paris would be neat. There's also that massive cave in Vietnam that was discovered called Song Doone that might be neat. There's also several museums and real world castles that could make for an interesting dungeon.

Speaking for jungle setting: What about El Dorado, lost city of gold? Pushing around solid gold blocks with Titan Bracelet and fighting living golden statues, as well as other jungle themed enemies, like wild animals.

This sounds like a good start to reinterpreting the Manji Labrynth. ;)

1: Agreed on the Parisian aqueducts, although in my opinion a nice blue/aqua mosaic motif might be nice. (Magic and Fantasy tried this with Level 2, check it out some, but I'm just kinda obsessed with the idea right now so whatever :P) Son Doong cave would also certainly be an interesting idea although I'm curious how its jungle (upper Brinstar as I like to call it for obvious reasons) would pan out.

As for general castle themes, you might look to, say, Bran Castle (inspiration for Castle Dracula's exterior) for interior designs. It looks very plush, in a medieval sense. Bear rugs, fancy fireplaces, beautiful windows and libraries... seeing something like this adapted into a quest could be a lovely (although not particularly hostile) change of pace.

Also, someone mentioned Buckingham Palace? In all seriousness, saving somehting like this for Hyrule Castle could have utterly brilliant results. I am picturing a carpeted, palatial estate adorned with statues and armor suits posed along the walls. lots of potted plants and other assorted things to show off, museum-style (like paintings and whatnot. You'd be surprised how similar museums and palaces can look.)

I've always thought that a dungeon based on Uluru in Australia would be pretty neat, like you have to make your way through a desert-like area, then you find this huge rock formation that you have to explore inside and outside.

Doesn't egypt have those mile-long pictures that are only visible from the air? Some sort of outdoor dungeon that had some sort of puzzle dealing with a path like that would be neat. Maybe you climb a tower and then look down and you can see it?

It would be cool if the tower's top was on a separate DMap, so you can see the pictures in full without having too much work put into making them.

Ooh, is that the ruins of Petra? I really like it. It's immediately apparent what it is while still not straying too fa from classic. I'm actually impressed with how few custom tiles you needed to make it work.

Awesome that you made such an accurate representation of the ruins of Petra with such simplicity. Now maybe Link can go on a quest like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
