Shane
Hyrule Castle Town seems to be pretty empty... Is something happening?

Jared
Inspired by an old trailer of Breath of The Wild. Hyrule, full of life, freedom, and secrets! It's my biggest overworld yet! And it was never even finished. :)

Tree
The woods bordering the Western side of Link's home village. Link and his friends used to play in the trees nearly every day, but have been forbidden from doing so due to the recent monster sightings.

I've unknowingly made a terrible mistake submitting one of my simpler maps this month... Curse you Shane and Jared for being so good ; w ;

Shane, I think a shadow for the clothes would help to not confuse them with an item lying around in a unusual spot. Even knowing it looks a bit odd to me.

Tree, looks awesome, voted for you

Shane, that's a great castle town map. There's lots of detail and the layout is solid, it all works out well. That doesn't mean I would want to personally live there though, because these walls around the town don't give a sense of freedom.

Jared, this reminds me a lot of Breath of the Wild. This is an open-ended world in ZC done right. Great job overall! Voted for you.

Tree, that's an extremely detailed and beautiful forest you got there. Emphasis on beautiful. I really like it and I'm a fan of the tiles used, even though I don't like using the tileset myself.

Shane: Something about this map is just off. The individual screen construction is fine, but when combined into a map it feels empty. Something in the design feels almost too symmetrical, too man-made even though it's not as symmetrical as it appears and it's a city so it's supposed to look man-made. Perhaps it would look better in a state where there are actual NPCs roaming about, but for now it appears too orderly, too empty, and too perfect. Perhaps some detail could indicate that the people were in a hurry to get to wherever they went?

Jared: Sorry to say, but I feel like this was a bad idea from its inception. BotW's style of world is just too empty and open to work in ZC. Open areas in large quantities just don't work that great in this engine. Heck, big overworlds like that of Lost Isle don't work well either in my opinion. I would quickly grow bored of exploring unless there was enough detail and diversity to match the space used. It was an interesting experiment, but I don't think it worked out.

Tree: I feel like I've seen this same map done many times before. I wasn't particularly moved by the last two entires though, so it'll do. The overall layout is solid, the detailing is great, and you made some interesting use of those cliffs which are taller than usual. Well done. I voted here.

I nulled because all these images are equally good.

There's nothing I'd say here is stunning, but there's nothing bad here either in my opinion.

Lol @ Moosh's criticism of a town that looks certainly man made to feel "man-made". :P I think that's the point Moosh.

Shane - Pretty fantastic map. I really love the design of this map, and I love the city feeling to this. I wouldn't mind to live in a place like this, because quite honestly I'm living in something like this right now :P

Jared - I like how this looks. The open world concept here looks pretty good, and besides a few weird things (like the dirt transitions on the bottom-left corner of the world) this map seems to come together fairly well.

Tree - Nicely done map. The screen design here is really spot on, and there's a lot of attention to detail, which is something I like a lot. The colours might be a bit too much on the green side, but that's probably just me nitpicking at this point lol. Good job anyways.

I voted for Shane this month, with Tree in very close second.

While Jared's isn't perfect I actually do think an open world like this can work. I think the interesting landmarks dotted around the overworld and a few different environments really work and provide a lot of breathing space and freedom. Though, I would of added more landmarks (preferably ones that you can interact with, etc.) and took more advantage of the space. Some shortcuts in the map don't entirely make sense (mainly the ones north of the village) but I do like some of the puzzles and ideas presented. It all adds up to form a seamless world and that's why I would of voted if I had not entered myself. I am going to try and make a seamless open world one of these days too, I would personally add more landmarks and whatnot though.

Also the clotheslines do have shadows underneath in my map (I don't think such small shadows would affect moving water however). Also not sure why people would think I would give free tunics in such a manner anyways...
