Firefox and Chrome can write tens of gigabytes of data to the storage device per day.

This is still not a huge issue for the average consumer though. I mean, if you want to slow down decrease of the lifetime of your SDD then changing such a setting would be ideal. But for most users in a home setting you're not going to ruin your SSD before you're switching anyway. (Even if you're in the conservative end and replaces your disks only every 8-10 years).

The limitations of SSDs is mostly a factor when it comes to server matters.
