Which of these Zquest installations are correct?

One of them has white crosses and one of them has static where those white crosses were.

 

Is there supposed to be static or white crosses?

If you're talking about unused space on the tile page or favorite combos or whatever, it's just an option.

 

If you go to the "Etc" menu and choose "Options..." there'll be a checkbox for "Use Static for Invalid Data."

 

Whichever choice you prefer is the correct one.

One more thing...

My caves are grey, the man doesn't appear, the item is in the corner (I set all the settings in the screen>guy menu and all that stuff) and there are four bats all in that cave. Why is this?
