Are there any safe and legal downlaods I can download and install so that I will no longer have up above problems please? Thank you.

http://www.virustotal.com/
can scan files and others.

If you have a YouTube account you can show up above files being clicked on, double clicked on, downloaded, extratced, scanned, used etc. as well as showing virustotal's information about the file, files etc. in the video and upload such a video at http://www.youtube.com/uploadand then post such a video's website link in this thread so I cam watch it.

^ I strongly recommend doing such a video please. Thanks.

Right-click the file 'ag.cfg', select 'Open With...' fromghe menu.

When the options list appears, select 'Choose another programme.' Find the programme 'Notepad' and select it.

The file should open in Notepad. (ag.cfg is just a text file.)

You could also rename it to 'ag.txt', open it (it will automatically open in Notepad). Then, make your changes, save, and rename the file to ag.cfg.

I honestly hope that the whole "ag.cfg" thing is ditched after the main release.

Gotta store configuration data somewhere. It would make more sense to put it under %APPDATA% or something, but that won't be in this version.

TBH, I find that programmes storing their config files on the filesystem under a system path, both annoying, and problematic.

That is surely the Microsoft way of doing things ...

Storing it in a path relative to the binaries that need it, as we do now is by far the best approach. This also permits multiple simultaneous configurations.

What would be good, is to enable modifying ag.cfg from zc/zq, but the way that Windows prevvents write-outs to open files, means that we'd need to copy ag.cfg to a buffer, and cleanly close it when it isn't being called, or written.y

Just pointing out that the OP's problem was not ag.cfg; it was that ZC needs write privileges for the directory it is run in (otherwise will crash trying to load quest files).

Storing it in a path relative to the binaries that need it, as we do now is by far the best approach. This also permits multiple simultaneous configurations.

It causes permission problems, it means every user on the system has to use the same configuration and saves, and it spreads around files that should be backed up. There's no reason the file locations themselves can't be configurable, but the current system isn't a good default.
