Naru - Probably the best screen you've made on SotW so far IMO. I really like how open this is and I also like the palette too. A couple things though, I'd probably try to block off the trees on the top-right by having more trees on the edge of the screen. Other than that, everything else looks pretty good.

Joelmacool - Really nice Z3-style screen here. Pretty basic and simple but it looks like a good dungeon shot.

Dimentio - Besides the subscreen sticking out kinda badly, the screen itself looks really cool. The transparent water really adds a lot to the screen as well, so nice job on that.

Alison - Pretty nice job here. The random line of grass on the bottom-left looks weird and took a while for me to notice it's like a shadow. Other than that, everything else looks cool.

I voted for Dimentio this week.

Naru:

Despite being functional like everything else here, I don't really like this screen. The objects on the screen feel haphazardly placed together; without regard to cohesion, flow and logic. The screen doesn't flow well together, like the bushes being placed in unnatural patterns and there being objects the player walks right into upon entering the screen. The themes evoked by the placement of tiles and details clash like with the forest meeting a desert sand shore and the apparently random placement of important details. The screen has value in it, but I wouldn't say very much. 4/10.

Joelmacool:

Simple, effective and functional. The basic standards that all screens should stand up to are shown here. It works especially well from a gameplay standpoint; giving the player something to do while they go through and the visuals do their job pretty well. However, the screen feels like it is missing something... something that would bring the atmosphere alive; but that really has more to do with the theme of the dungeon rather than the screen itself - I wouldn't expect you to change the dungeon's entire theme on a whim if that would be what it would take enhance the screen's atmosphere. 6/10

Dimentio:

While the subscreen suffers from being too noisy and difficult to read and the screen feels a tad monochrome and I would suggest a little more colour (eg a little more red), this wins easy. The screen flows very well and has a really nice visual flair; which is difficult to come by when using the saturated palettes that are typical of the GBC tileset. The transparent water really makes this screen come alive and works very well given that GBC generally doesn't play nicely with transparent layers. 8/10.

Alison:

Also a clearly competent screen, the screen accomplishes what it set out to be without going crazy. I really like how you managed to pull off splitting the screen in two parts without making either side look weaker than each other and overall. All the features on the screen look like they are placed with great care and each with a specific function. The only complaint I have is the bridge shadow looking odd but that is easily fixed with a little bit of tile editing 7/10

I voted for Dimentio.

I'm not a fan of the subscreen at all, but as a whole the screen flows well.

Naru - General layout of the screen is nice but has a few issues.  Kinda bugs me how you have the top left part of the screen blocked off even though you can go to the left from the bottom left corner, it would look a lot cleaner to block off the bottom corner and to be able to go to the left from a wider area in the middle.  There's also a lot of points on the screen where you'd be blocked by a solid tile a tile away from the screen entrance, which doesn't look bad necessarily but isn't very fun from a gameplay perspective.

Joel - I like this a lot which is kinda surprising for me towards a Z3 screen. Everything about this shot just feels clean and nice and it's just really solid, woulda voted for this if I didn't enter.

Dimentio - That subscreen is a hot mess and you should tone it down.  Screen itself looks nice, but it feels kinda lifeless? Like this big open screen but there's nothing to do on it but cross over to the next one, no puzzles or enemies or anything.  It's not bad though and the general aesthetic is good but it's just a little too Empty In The Soul Department ™

Naru: This screen lacks flow, or any semblance of structure. It doesn't really improve the screen you tried to recreate (Yes, I'm aware this is a screen from Link in Cestria). Every single tile feels like it was just thrown in without second thought. The only thing I like is the improved entrance and colour choices.

Joelmacool: Great aLttP styled screen. Quite shocking it's coming last as it is a competent screen. I appreciate the little details on the floor too!

Dimentio: Normally I despise transparency in EZGBZ but this is a huge exception as it looks nice here. Subscreen is a little chaotic (craving skittles now) and I'm not the biggest fan on the palette choice but the unique setting and design got my vote.

Aslion: Nice town shot, very well designed. I personally ain't a fan of the detailing but it works and I have no real problems with it.

Naru - I think it's a good enough nature screen. I don't necessarily believe flow/logic/etc applies to unrefined outdoor terrain - it's often quite haphazard when untended, and I don't mind a screen that represents that. Still, every screen ever made for ZC is by design, regardless of what it's trying to represent, so I do agree that maybe less stuff should be scattered on the beach, and that you shouldn't walk into solid objects when entering the screen. That sand patch beside the triforce tile does make me wonder how it got there.

I'm also not sure why all these GB maps have those toilet seats scattered around outside, but it's nothing unique to yours, so whatever.

Joel - Classic LttP, what's not to love?

Well, except maybe the torches. They look a bit weird crammed so close together. And if you moved the right one right by one more tile, they'd be centered with the door as well as actually having a path between them. Of course, you'd have to move that bar over as well, and possibly the bottom right corner if you wanted to keep the same width on the right-side path... but, it's worth a try I think.

Dimentio - Oh, wow... I have never wanted to eat a subscreen so badly! More candy than I've ever gotten on any Halloween in my entire life :omg:

I think my blood sugar levels rose 30% just looking at it.

That said, the screen itself is one of the best GB-styled screens I've seen so far. I agree with Shane that the transparency makes it stand out, since I don't often see that used very well in GB... let alone anything at all, really. The bold colors look great here, and I especially appreciate that you've accounted for the missing 8 pixels at the bottom of the screen, instead of having your torches cut off like so many other GB screens I've seen.

Das voten sie.

Aslion - Your recent screens have gradually been winning me over to monochrome palettes. Though I thought your entry for 595 was your best one so far (and where I voted), this one isn't far behind. Ground detail's good and balanced, shadow's a nice touch... but, I can't help notice a distinct lack of triangles :eyebrow:
