I was thinking starting a Zelda Classic run page.

Here's what I need:

1.  Someone's who decently versed in ZC competitive play to help Mod and approve runs.

2.  A list of all competitively played quests besides New Quest, James Quest, and Demo EX that can be completed under 3 hours, 2 hours preferable

3.  A solid run of a ZC quest (I have some, but they're all segmented.  :( )

Get back to me if you're interested.

-James.

I would, but I don't speedrun for the most part. :(

I just play way too many games to keep focus on the few.

lol Know the feeling.

If you know which newer quests get commonly run I'd like to know because I could get their tracks done if we get approved out of the gate (instead of waiting until someone actually decides to run them!)

Tracks I'm putting in out of the gate:

3rd Quest

4th Quest

5th Quest

New Quest 2013
Demo EX (and SP when it's released)
James Quest:  Remastered
Nostalrul (if someone can show me a reasonable run for it)

Quest for the Hookshot (heard someone ran this, if you can find it link me please)

Ones under consideration:

Randomizers (whichever versions if they can be reasonably done under 3h)

Banned discussion:

1st and 2nd Quests (unless they're remixes like Demo 1st and 2nd, LoZ is available on multiple platforms and in its purest form.  No need to step on Nintendo's toes)

I mean this quest is made for speed running. No one's really done it yet though.

"-The final boss is tricky. If you are having a lot of trouble, there is a cheese strat: stand toward the upward edge of the water where he can't hit you and spam. This is basically a free win."

Means that every speedrun will be identical for the final boss, which is laaaame.

WE ARE UP!  Please take note of the slight rules and regulations (including no cheating, RTA rules, and no 1st/2nd runs not remixes due to legal reasons).  I am willing to take other people's quests within reason (mostly time and if they're completable within a single segment)

If you have any questions or have competitive knowledge, ask!  Am looking for mods to help (though I will probably absolutely require videos that you know how to play to get that spot)

You do mean it is RTA right? Sorry, the wording is a little confusing.

EDIT: Also I'm trying to think what Zelda Classic Games would be good to speedrun... I feel like I'll have a good time with this.

RTA = Real Time Attack.  Basically, in short words, no quitting and coming back to it, or segmenting it.  The quest has to be completed in a single sitting without quitting the application, switching to another quest, or hitting "Retry" (Continue and Save are allowed, like Up and A in Zelda 1).

I know what RTA means. Your wording was just confusing on if you were using RTA or not. It sounds like you are.

Why have you chosen the games you have? What in your mind makes them suited for speedrunning? I am looking through the database trying to find what games I might like to try or could be good.

Well, the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and Demo EX are all like AG Sponsored.

There have been runs done on James Quest before.

I would do New Quest as well, but I'm cleaning that version free of bugs and remastering it, so at least not yet.  If you really want, I'll post the 2013 version with my time from 4 years ago for SRL if someone wants to beat it, but just mind you, the track will probably be closed when I release the updated version.

But as I said, it's open to ANYBODY providing there's proof made of it.

So tl;dr, the answer is, limited time on my end.  I don't have time to scour and play all 200 quests.  If you want it, run it, under 4h, upload it, don't cheat.  It'll be strongly considered

We are up, and the first run in, with a total demolition of Demo Quest EX in 2 hours 15 minutes 26 seconds of in-game time:

I hope to see more people join in.

EDIT:  Gleeok overruled me.  1st and 2nd tracks are up, just be mindful of the ZC differences:  They do play slightly differently.

What really defines "competitive" ZC play?

Is there exploits and such you'd need to know to stand a chance at a good run?

I feel Umbral Cloud is an expert speed running quest.

In the Lost Kingdom of the Banana Blood God is another great speed running quest. I also heard people doing a speed run of Freedom in Chains and got wrecked by the boss. It's another great speed running quest. Link's Quest for the Hookshot 2 is a little longer than the ones I just mentioned above, but it's another great option.

People need to actually get practiced with these quests though, especially Umbral Cloud. You cannot effectively speed run a quest when you're dying to the same boss 20 or 30 times in a row.
