So, in case anybody doesn't know already... I've been working almost exclusively on Metroid things for the past year or so.

During that time, I've been mostly relying upon the following tileset- Metroid Prime Tiles

As good as that is, there are a lot of things that it is lacking. There are no real sprites for most of the enemies in the game and no scripts to run a standard sideview Metroid quest. So you're stuck either doing a top-down version or putting things together on your own.

Since I started working on my games, I've been systematically importing tiles from around the Metroid series and writing scripts to run the engine which you can use to play the game.

My intent is to make a comprehensive tileset that will include every enemy and object from the original game and scripts to run them. These will be included with the tileset so that a person could set up a Metroid-style quest with very little effort.

So far, the tileset isn't very organized (either in tiles or combos) and that's something that I intend to do before I release it. I may also add in features which haven't been seen in a Metroid game thus far.

Anyways, here's the working quest file which includes a playable demo of my current Metroid 3 (ZC Remake). Please note that this quest cannot be beaten at present, but I can go a long way to showing off the engine in general as well as the enemies and tiles.

Metroid 3 Tileset

All relevant scripts are included in the buffer, save ghost.zh and tango.zh.

Currently most wanted tiles are as follows:

Zero Suit Samus Sprites

Varia Suit Samus Sprites

Gravity Suit Samus Sprites

If anybody would like to contribute, either to the sprites or improving the scripts; please let me know!

Actually, I've already ripped a large quantity of those tiles into this set. Naturally, you'll have credit for those.

I may need to redo some of those; since the quality of the rips in some cases leaves things to be desired.

I also don't have a lot of good palette options (In fact, I'd say I don't have any palette options at the moment). I'm not particularly experienced with creating or setting those up.

Any further contributions that you might want to make would be appreciated.

ah. :P

Sadly Maridia gives me quite a bit of trouble even with the techniques and stuff all taken into consideration. I'm sure there's a way, but its next to impossible for me to tell what should go where and in what. :x

That said, I do sincerely wish you luck on this. You've come a long way ywkls, and it would be sweet to have a proper metroid game pop up out of this

Whoa, man. This is looking great! I'll download it and check it out.

Oh, hey... a good place to start with palettes might be that the Gravity Suit is a palette swap of the Varia suit.

Glad you like it. I should note that the shots shown here are only what I've added since I decided to officially make this a tileset.

There are a lot of things (enemies, areas, cutscenes) I created before then, that aren't shown here.

As for the idea of doing a palette swap for the Gravity Suit, probably the only way I can do that is to have 8-bit tiles because as far as I know, there isn't a way to draw a combo or tile in one palette while having the Screen be another. (You can change it's CSet, however.)

Oh, oops I meant CSet swapping. Like getting the blue ring.

Played the demo. Pretty solid start for Zc.

It's been a while on this, hasn't it? Well, I have made some progress; though it's mostly been on the scripting front.

A thorough list of all the script which this tileset supports will probably be included in the final version, along with setup instructions for them and the various enemies in the quest.

Here's the additional scripts now supported since the last update:

Added second subscreen.
Added pseudo-map system.
Added scripted conveyors.
Fixed bug with inverse jumper.
Made Zebetites impassable.
Fixed bugs with moving platforms holding you in midair until you jump.
Fixed major bug with health code.
Created heat effect.
Created small round crawler, blue
Did Movie for dropping down pipe.
Scripted the Ninja Space Pirates.
Did Movie for walking Chozo.
Scripted grabber enemies- by Moosh.

There have also been a wide variety of tiles added, though picking out which ones would be hard. I hope to have a demo of the whole game up sometime soon.
