This is going to probably be something of an ongoing thread, since I have trouble creating tiles on my own I can use all the help that I can get. This is mainly going to be focused on my long-term projects, though I may have some more short-term goals that I'd like to meet.

Summary-

I'm making a quest/tileset which will be heavily inspired by Final Fantasy. I'm going to be borrowing some things from existing tilesets, Spriter's resource and old posts in the forums. I'm not above taking something from a game which has absolutely no relationship to my end product.

I don't know how long this will take, since I"m basically going to be making this from the ground up, including all of the items. Some of them may be scripted, if I get ideas on what I want them to do.

I have a large amount of tiles already, which I'm going to be incorporating into my quest as time goes on and if I find that something is lacking; I'll ask for it.

Once I get enough established to make some screens, I'll start posting screenshots.

I may need some help making palettes for this, since I have no earthly idea how to do that.

Top Priority Request-

I need a sprite that is one tile wide and two tiles tall, done in the style of Final Fantasy 6. This character is a young man, a sage/cleric. I'd prefer to have three frames of animation for each phase of movement. Compliance with existing tilesets isn't needed, but I am using Dance of Remebrance (Hybrid) as the basis off which to create this. (Since it already has a bunch of palettes.)

Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to help!

(Also, for those who care- 500th post.)

Here's a preliminary screenshot of an early area.

Yes, that is who it appears to be. Haven't gotten around to changing up the character sprites yet. (Had enough trouble adding them to the tileset.) I'll be continuing to expand upon this as time goes by.

Here's a preliminary shot of house interiors. I'm having a little trouble working out how to do the side and bottom walls, but overall it is turning out how I planned. And yes, that's another familiar face onscreen. He'll be the base sprite for another of the characters in my quest.

I'll probably start on some exterior areas next.

Here's a sample castle exterior. I've also started changing the character sprites, beginning with their hair color. And you might note that I've added an HP/MP meter, which is scripted and different for each character.

This is still not final, just progress.

Id love to see more progress you've made. I applaud your efforts in making this tileset scripted.

As long as that's not supposed to be Celeste in the third shot, nice job! :D

Just some constructive criticism:

1.  Not sure about the purple in the stairs in front of the hut (in the first shot) or the light purple in the castle tiles (in the third shot).  They just kinda' stand out to me as unnatural in color.  (First:) Would a darker purple work?  (Third:) Would a slightly paler purple work?  Either that or maybe making it more grayish might make it look better.

2.  Also, something's off with the tiles in Travalle (the second shot).  The bed looks weird and the bookshelf has black on top where there should be a light color.  (I'm guessing those sprites might've been imported without pressing "R" to recolor them into your pallette...)

@Lightwulf- The base sprite was Celes from FFVI. This is just first stage modifying, which consists of changing the hair color. I'll probably alter other things later.

1. I think both issues are caused by the fact that I haven't officially created my own palette for this yet; but am instead using an existing one. I just barely comprehend how to do palettes, so for the moment I've just been ripping tiles and setting them up into combos.

2. The sprites are recolored, but the Cset they're in restricts what color I can change them to. I'm going to either have to experiment with other CSets or break down and make a palette of my own.

Right now, I haven't done too much else other than what is shown here and in my recent screenshot of the week entry, but I feel I'm getting close to having enough variety in the combos where I can actually begin work on the game. And I do have some potential tiles for the character I requested tiles for earlier, though I haven't finished adjusting them yet.
