Stiff competition as usual. There is really a lot of variety in this SotM, and literally every screen uses a different tileset. Glad I entered, cause I don't really know who I'd vote for. Probably either BigJoe, or Russ. Russ' side scroller shot was my favorite in that SotW contest, and I still like it. BigJoe has an eclectic mix of tiles going on, and it really clicks with me. The palette is also cool too. Shoelace has a good pure shot, with some nice mountains (in spite of a tile error or two, but hey, that happens, look at my entry ). Joelmacool has a solid entry as usual too. I like this shot a lot. Looking at it makes me feel like I'm up in the hills, or mountains. I think the tall grass would benefit from a border though, since the rest of the screen looks so detailed, that GB-authentic touch looks out of place, imo.

oh my what a lovely month. i also wanted to take the time to say, since i wanted to say it and did not get to, that the last SotW was one of the best i've seen in a while, too. all six of the screens were well above par.


um...
gosh i dunno. joe's has colors going for it (colors are my favorite) and that's tempting. but russ's got aesthetic. i really REALLY love that background. it's like if kirby's adventure and mario 3 mated. shoelace's is great, too. it's been a while since we had a good screen in the contest with strong traces of DoR in it, which is funny cuz those used to be the only thing you'd see. it's funny how that kind of thing is almost like a contrast now.

my heart is leaning bigjoe this month. i love the lil touches like the blue jay perched on the pillar, and i just love the colors, and i love good BS shots which there are not enough of.

This is a really tough choice... all the screens look so cool. I'm probably gonna have to go for Joel's shot this time round, with everyone else in a close second. If I could vote for everyone, I would lol
