Sorry for not being able to talk earlier. I am usually too busy to talk on weekdays.

 

I don't know what caused Moosh's sword bug. Are you playing in the right version? It should be the latest version of 2.50.1 from the ZeldaClassic.com downloads page.

 

Recently, I released version 1.1 of the quest in order to help with some of the problems brought up in Marv Albert's review. I hope this helps.

 

Out of curiosity, has anyone found the hidden bonus dungeon? I worked hard on making its boss.

Yes I have if it's called level 0 but I haven't been able to beat him yet.

I decided to download the updated version and now I can't use my savegame for this quest anymore.

That's the right level. Good luck with the fight!

Ugh, almost embarassed to admit this, but I cant get into the room that presumably has the stepladder in level 1.  There are no bombable or walkthrough walls leading to that room, and I'm fairly certain I pushed every block in the level in every direction  

 

Any tips?

It's not surprising that you can't find the ladder in level 1, because it's not there. It's in a cave on the overworld.
