So, the lake area is easily my favourite classic area I've ever designed. Even though it's just the classic tileset, there's just something about it I really like. Let me show some more screens of it:
By the way, why is that dungeon entrance looking away?
I really hope you look forward to seeing the whole thing.
Getting a triforce piece
This quest has a fancy triforce animation. Yep, this was totally necessary. The music that it will play is an 8-bit remix of Sonic Boom from Sonic CD.

That is one hell of a Triforce pickup cutscene. Looks like total chaos and I love it.
Lake area looks pretty nicely made too.

You sneak, offsetting the tile row by 4
But I do agree, the lake looks quite nice. And come to think of it, despite the rocks being... well, rocks, I've almost never seen them colored gray. Looks surprisingly natural.
And I thought I was the only one who had a thing for the Sonic CD soundtrack. Honestly, Sega CD had some of the best video game music ever. One of the most overlooked systems ever.

That is a pretty great looking lake area! It's quite well done, great work! That Triforce animation looks interesting, but I'm sure that still screens do it no justice.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone!

It's a very blue-ish gray. I'm planning to have different rock colors for each overworld area.

This project is on a one-month hiatus, because of the metroidvania contest I'm entering
