Alright so I'm trying to make Link start off with no shield as I'm making a Triforce Heroes esque Link

And I also want to do this so I don't have to make every shield sprite for my Link

 

But still, I would like to know how to make Link start off with no shield

I've tried using LTMs with the Small shield to make it look like he has no shield but it always turns Link into a one way trap(Those Spiked blocks)

 

And before you ask, yes I do have Expanded Link Tiles ticked off

It's not as complicated as you're making it seem.

 

On the top menu, go to "Quest" -> "Init Data" to get a list of items that Link can start with. Scroll down to "Shields," and you'll get a sub-listing of all shields in your quest, along with checkboxes in front of each one. Whatever items have their checkboxes enabled are the items Link starts with. "Shield 1 (Small)" should be checked by default. Just uncheck it and you'll start with no shield.
