Would you mind sharing OoT fishing strategies? I have some things I try, but I'm never sure if what I'm doing is making it easier or harder.
I can get the fish that I'm after to bite easily enough, but once it's hooked I get confused.
I generally reel it in the whole time and when it's swimming away from me I also pull on the rod. My thinking is that the fish is more likely to go in the direction with less pull on the line (thus when it's swimming toward me it only has the force of the reel pulling on it, but when it swims away it also has the force of Link pulling on the rod - so it hurts the fish more to swim away). I also let go of all the buttons when the fish is jumping out of the water.
Is that correct or am I making things harder for myself? It generally takes me a long time to catch anything.
(I was always frustrated the game tells you the controls, but is super vague on strategy)
