Hey there! I'm Radien. [Simpsons' Troy McClure voice] You may remember me from the Loose Tiles archive, or from the tileset database as the creator of the Dance of Remembrance tileset and New BS tileset. :)

I'm back from a long hiatus from PureZC. Back before my regrettable departure, I enjoyed talking with people who used my stuff and helping them enjoy it to its fullest.

I don't have a reliable computer right now, so I'm talking to you via my smartphone. That prevents me from using ZC, but it certainly doesn't prevent me from helping people!

My ZC quest editor knowledge is a bit dated, but I'd love to help anybody who is using my tilesets or my tiles. (Or, heck, playing my quest, “Master Quest.” I'm proud of that one, though it's a simple “third quest”-style creation.)

Fire away! And tell me a bit about your projects, while you're at it! :)

Well, I might as well. Since you have mentioned the BS tileset: I am actually using that right now for a quest project. As per usual I got carried away and ripped a bunch of tiles in and sprited some and such, but yeah. It's still pretty much BS Zelda, with a much more modern feel though.

Right now I am remaking the BS Zelda overworld. The quest might turn out to be a Zelda remake after all - I always wanted to make one anyways. But maybe more like aLbW is a remake of aLttP. Here is my current progress - I have posted this in the screenshot thread, too, but I am reposting.

Spoiler

I want to add a bit of story, too, very little though. And it's probably going to be less than 9 dungeons because that's just insane. It's been a while since I last sort of comitted to a project so yeah. We'll see where this goes. For the moment I am really enjoying it.

I really like what you're doing with the BS tileset. You seem to have made a custom palette so you can for in some more Minish Cap-ish tiles, which makes a lot of sense. Others have done the same, and for good reason. :)

I'm not sure how many of the modifications are your own, but I see you're also trying to be very true to the original BS tiles, and those large bushes do a great job. They look like BS bushes colored like Minish Cap trees.

Zelda 1 map reinterpretations are coming, but I like the style you chose. I'm sure you can do something fun and interesting with it.

Okay, you didn't ask any questions, so I just assumed you wanted general feedback. Looking great.

(Sorry I took a bit to respond. In-laws just moved in. Was kinda busy again.)

Yeah, I was mostly asking for an opinion/ general feedback I guess.

Some of the tiles are my own work (for example some of the NPCs - the carpenters, Mutoh and Anju) but most of it is NoeL's from his very old BS quest and Alestance's from his very new Thunderbird project. Other tiles are, I believe, FireSeraphim's work - such as the slashable bushes and the castle walls. PrinceMSC made the houses and the pots. Also, the palette is very much PMSC inspired. The tWW water is from zeldafangamecentral's Leduardo. And some tiles such as the skulls are from the tMC Stalfos (maybe I will have spinning skulls instead of spinning floor tiles, all the necessary tiles are available in the tMC stalfos sprite sheet). And some is LA and LttP. Really, it's quite a mix.

You can check out the latest progress here.

And here is my start on house interiors. Since you also work with the BS tileset this may be of interest? Here's the tentative results:

Hi Radien, welcome back. Do you have a method to choose color palettes? Is there any theory behind it? Also, do you create the tiles first then choose colors, or do you pick colors and build from there? Both? I have so many questions for you...
